About Us
Valley Stockyard is completely family owned and operated by Blake and Casey Hunter. They both believe in staying hands-on, personally managing the barn day in and day out, so they can ensure the operations are handled well.
Blake’s entire life has revolved around the cattle business. From a young age, he knew he wanted to be a cattleman. In high school, Blake worked in the back of the barn at stockyards and helped his dad buy, sell, feed, doctor and load cattle. As an adult, Blake began order buying for various companies and has done so ever since. Blake has vast experience in buying feeders and slaughter cattle. He’s retained ownership and backgrounded cattle for himself. Now, owning the stockyard, Blake’s knowledge is put to good use- he knows exactly what feeders are worth each day and is well-connected with buyers. His broad experience across every segment of the cattle business makes him well qualified for the job as stockyard owner.
Casey also shares a passion for the cattle business. Her favorite part is buying, selling, and turning out replacement cattle- she loves a good stock cow, and if you attend a sale at Valley, you’ll quickly see that.
Together, Blake and Casey have three children- Tate, Wild Bill, and Barrett- who all love growing up in the cattle and stockyard world. This is their life, and they love every moment of it. Blake and Casey are working to build a future where their children can one day join the business.
From Mark Lane, our auctioneer with over 30 years of experience, to Wayne Hensley, who keeps the barn running smoothly on sale day, to our wonderful office staff and everyone in between, we have too many employees to name- but each one plays a critical role in keeping everything rolling weekly. We are so blessed to have a top- notch crew!
